{"id":301,"date":"2014-04-18T14:55:15","date_gmt":"2014-04-18T18:55:15","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.nxtconcepts.com\/srufo\/?p=301"},"modified":"2014-04-18T14:55:15","modified_gmt":"2014-04-18T18:55:15","slug":"heartbleed-q-a","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.nxtconcepts.com\/srufo\/2014\/04\/18\/heartbleed-q-a\/","title":{"rendered":"Heartbleed Bug Simple Q &#038; A"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>By now you have probably seen the news about a recent security exploit for many sites using the \u201cs\u201d in the https URL.\u00a0 There\u2019s a lot of doom and gloom in the media, so I wanted to help break down what\u2019s going on and how it might affect you and your business.\u00a0 We are currently in the process of building a plan to change all passwords on nxtConcepts client websites, social networks, and notify you of other places you should change old passwords.\u00a0 We know this is a PAIN, but\u00a0 it is REALLY important to give this the attention it needs.<\/p>\n<p><strong>1. Does this Heartbleed bug personally affect me?<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The simple answer is yes.\u00a0 If you have ever created a user\/pass combination on a site that used SSL technology, chances are someone may have access to your information.\u00a0 Also, if you have ever used the SAME password for multiple account, you are most likely affected.\u00a0 Here\u2019s a quicklist of sites affected:<\/p>\n<p><strong>Facebook, Pinterest, Tumblr, Yahoo, GoDaddy, Intuit (QuickBooks), DropBox,<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Google-search, email, YouTube, Wallet, Play, and Apps<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>For a full list go here:<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/mashable.com\/2014\/04\/09\/heartbleed-bug-websites-affected\/?utm_content=feature_title&amp;utm_cid=mash-prod-email-topstories&amp;utm_emailalert=daily&amp;utm_source=newsletter&amp;utm_medium=email&amp;utm_campaign=daily\" target=\"_blank\">http:\/\/mashable.com<\/a><\/p>\n<p>Note-on a positive site, banks, government agencies, PayPal, and Target were not affected.<\/p>\n<p><strong>2. Does this Heartbleed bug affect my company website?<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Maybe.\u00a0 If you have an ecommerce cart using a SSL, then, you will need to check with your hosting company and\/or where you purchased your SSL to see if they have completed the patches.**<\/p>\n<p><strong>**3. Where do we go from here?<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>We have a list of all the websites and social networks that we work with you on.\u00a0 So, we can go ahead and start changing those passwords and then send you an updated list of accounts and passwords.<\/p>\n<p>As for your website, we recommend having everyone change their passwords.\u00a0 Just to keep away future issues.<\/p>\n<p>Joomla sites (2.5 &amp; 3.0) &amp; WordPress : we can install a small piece of software to force a password change the next time someone logs into the site.\u00a0 I recommend this, but we will not add it until you give us the ok.<\/p>\n<p>Other sites we manage \u2013 please contact me directly for options.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>By now you have probably seen the news about a recent security exploit for many sites using the \u201cs\u201d in the https URL.
